About the artist
With her haunting, pure voice, and her honest, whimsical songwriting, Bailey Bigger brings a sense of wonder and purity to the Americana music scene. Hailing from the small southern delta town of Marion, Arkansas, Bigger grew up creating her own magical tales out in nature, writing short stories of dream-like worlds from the branches of her favorite magnolia tree. When she began writing music at the age of six, these stories translated to song, beginning the evolution of her journey as a songwriter.
The 24 year old singer/songwriter/instrumentalist has collected back to back nominations at the Arkansas Country Music Awards, been named Songwriter of the Year in Memphis, won Audience-Favorite music video at Indie Film Fest, and has had multiple songs featured on TrueSouth on SEC Television. Bigger has traveled the country over the last four years, enchanting audiences with her siren song and classic American songwriting. She has shared stages and festival lineups with Sierra Ferrell, The Local Honeys, The Avett Brothers, and toured alongside Joe Purdy and Trampled by Turtles. Bailey’s voice has graced the stages of Red Rocks Amphitheater, The Bluebird Cafe, Georgia Theater, and many festivals including FloydFest, Americanafest, and Memphis in May.
Bailey began her journey in the studio at a very young age, recording in Dark Horse Studios (Franklin, TN) at the age of 12. Since then she released several EPs and small projects on her own, including her 2019 EP “Between the Pages,” when she signed to her college record label (BlueTom Records) only as a Freshman. From there she went on to sign a record deal with Bruce Watson’s Oxford, MS based label, Big Legal Mess, in 2020, releasing her EP, “Let’s Call it Love,” which gained national attention, giving her a boost to release her debut full length album, “Coyote Red,” in 2022 with Memphis-based label, Madjack Records. Produced by Memphis’ Mark Edgar Stuart, “Coyote Red,” was recorded at Jim Dickinson’s famous back house studio, Zebra Ranch, in Coldwater, Mississippi. “This was the record my childhood self had always desired to create,” says Bigger, “Just some friends gathered around a microphone out in the Mississippi delta, singing some folk songs about real life.”
Two years later, after many days spent writing in the rural evenings at her farm home in Arkansas, and exploring new ideas and revelations, Bigger is releasing her second full length album, “Resurrection Fern,” on October 25th. Co-Producing, alongside Stuart, Bigger and her band cut half of the record at Southern Grooves with Matt Ross-Spang, and the other half in the cooler autumn days at the Shelby-Foote Mansion with Kevin Houston. Much inspired by her own celtic heritage, folklore of the world surrounding her, and connection to the natural world, Bailey’s new record takes the listener on a journey through the four seasons, and the cycles of death that we, and the earth, face every year. Leaning into the mystery and lore of the unknown, human emotions, and the wild nature within all of us, “Resurrection Fern,” captures the magic that Bailey found within her years of tuning in deeper with the natural cycles, and the primal knowledge within.
“Every now and again one of those quintessentially shining voices appears, and now is definitely one of those times.” -Melissa Clarke (Americana Highways)
“Bigger’s artistry is out of bounds, with such vulnerable and truthful lyrics, she is singlehandedly bringing classic American songwriting back to life.” -RJ Frometa (Vents Magazine)
“Bailey pours her soul into her songwriting and the results are stunning. Great songs combined with a beautiful distinctive voice, this is something really special. In a time where we are inundated with junk culture, it’s refreshing to hear a young artist reinventing older music and making it vibrant again.” -Bruce Watson (Fat Possum Records)
